Artist's Comments

At last, she is completed! I started drawing and painting her in June of 2006. Last week, I finally decided to pick her up and finish her. There are a few things I am not too happy with: the background and the stone steps. Since I realize these flaws, don't give me any criticism on them. The scanner washed out her skin and didn't show the nice midtones I had. Oh well. Maybe I'll fix that at a later time. :D I am very fond of the designs on her throne, the bird-like designs on her armrests are supposed to resemble the falcon, the bird she is said to change into. Of course, I left out many more symbols that depict this particular goddess, but most information I received on her doesn't agree with other sources. I went with what my lovely little mythology book said ^_^.

I give :iconvikingraid: permission to display this piece in their gallery.

Done in watercolor. 16 hours.

June 2006 - October 2006.

The red drape, and pretty much all the fabric looks awesome. The edges look fiery. Neat.

to bad the scanner washed out some of the color (stupid scanners), but it still looks wonderful sweetie. i especially like the lovely drape of the fabrics and her stately sitted pose... she's definitely the queen of the Nordic pantheon. very nicely done!
